Myself and best friend/frequent creative collaborator of mine, James, set ourselves a new creative project over the weekend: to remake the video (with covered audio) of Patrick Watson’s new single “Dream for Dreaming”.
Recently I’ve been playing around with the Maschine MK3 as a live jamming tool. With the piano riff from Everything Everything’s A Fever Dream stuck in my head for the last few days, I decided to have a go at covering the song in a live looped performance.
This week I produced a recording (and accompanying video!) of a little ditty that I wrote a couple of years ago, but never came back to and never fully flushed out. I decided that this would be the challenge of this weeks polaroid:
The goal this week was to create something electronic that blended atmospheric sounds with an overall cinematic feel. Recurrence was the result; a slightly dark and expansive instrumental piece.
And so it begins! I spent a little longer on this track than intended, but I’m pleased with how it came out. I had a lot of fun making the groove, and that gave me an excuse to work in some sax, something I’ve neglected for a little while.
